The meaning of Tetrad of Media is examining the effects on society of any technology or medium, by dividing the effects into four different categories which are, What does the medium enhance, What does the medium make obsolete, What does the medium retrieve that had been obsolesced earlier, and What does the medium flip into when pushed to extremes. For enhancement, it’s what the media amplifies. For Obsolescence its what medium drives out of prominence. And for the last two, its reversal and retrieval, retrieval is what the medium had recovered which was previously lost. And for reversal, its what the medium does when pushed it is to its limits
